Stockholm Tour, Wednesday 11 June
We travel together by train to Stockholm, guided by Lars Ohlander, who is familiar with the town and its history. In Stockholm we have several options; shopping, looking at historical sights, museums, a short boat tour and so on. We suggest roughly the following programme:

We start with a walk through the central part of Stockholm to the Royal Castle. Then we can visit parts of the castle and/or the Royal Treasures, Stockholm Cathedral, Medieval Town (Old Stockholm) and maybe some coffee/tea at the Nobel Museum. Next we follow the main shopping street through the Old Town and take a short boat trip to Djurgården (old royal hunting area, now a national reserve). At Djurgården we visit the Vasa Museum, which exhibits the Vasa battleship. The Vasa sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 and was raised in 1961, and is the best preserved battleship from that era in the world. After that, we can have lunch at the Skansen Open Air Museum.

The programme is flexible and can be adjusted according to the wishes of the participants. For the Stockholm visit, we suggest you bring suitable walking shoes.

This tour includes train travel, all entrance fees and all transportation in Stockholm (bus, tram, boat and underground). However individuals have to buy their own lunch and coffees.

The Stockholm Tour (excl. lunch and coffees) is included in the registration fee for accompanying persons. Pre-registration is required. Please register on the registration form.

For more information about the Stockholm Tour, please contact Lars.Ohlander@vpe.slu.se.
