7th International conference on Canine and Equine Locomotion
Dear colleagues and friends.
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Seventh International conference on Canine and Equine Locomotion (ICEL 7) at Strömsholm Sweden in June 2012. New for this year’s conference is that in addition to equine items it will also be open for work on canine locomotion. The conference originates from the International Workshop on Animal Locomotion (IWAL), conceived in 1991 by Henk Schamhardt and Ton van den Bogert
in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The objective of this meeting is the promotion of the knowledge and understanding in the
multidisciplinary field of biomechanics applied to equine and canine health and performance: from tissue mechanics research to motion analysis, from new instrumentation development and modelling to clinical trials of new treatments for locomotor system disorders.
The conference will take place at one of Sweden’s national equine centres; Strömsholm, former army centre of horse and rider education and Royal Breeding Stud in the 17th century. Also one of the royal castles is situated here. Strömsholm provides a unique and very well equipped environment for a friendly, creative and constructive forum for research presentations and discussions related to equine and canine locomotion which are the goals of ICEL-7.
